I often make my own screen printed decals taken from my own photographs or sketches. It can be a fairly long process as I need to access specific equipment to create them.
Below are images of the basic steps taken to make my work long before the firing process starts!
On this occasion, It started with walking the dog!. I noticed the amazing structure of the dried out plant skeleton, seed and pod heads in the fields at the back Eve’s school.
I photographed them, cleaned them up in photoshop and headed to the Printhaus print studios to create the imagery.
After they are printed, great care has to be taken to apply them to the enamelled copper so they don’t tear. Then they are ready for the final firing to 800 c .. it s fingers crossed that they don’t pin hole in the kiln!
